HOW YOU CAN HELP US AND WE CAN HELP YOU
|
|
 |
|
Corporate
sponsorship has proved to be a successful partnership for Hospital
Radio Perth and its sponsors. We have been sponsored by a wide variety
of local and national organisations for many years.
For
a number of reasons we are unable to broadcast advertisements, however,
one of the ways in which we finance our service is by offering organisations
and companies the opportunity to sponsor programmes.
Sponsorship
is, in effect, an on air acknowledgement of your donation. The opportunity
to have your company or organisation associated with the UK's top
hospital radio station and to help out a high profile local charity.
Several
of our sponsors have been with us continuously for well over ten
years! Many have visited the studios and some have even taken part
in the production of the programmes. It's an effective, low cost
method of bringing your company to public attention and reinforcing
your profile to potential and existing customers.
How
does it work? Quite simply, once you contact us, we produce a short
jingle of around 30 - 45 seconds. We tailor the package to suit
you - and your jingle is then played three times an hour during
your programme - FOR A WHOLE YEAR!
With
sponsorship starting at around £150 for a whole year - you
will be hard pressed to find better value. In fact it may be that
your company would rather donate goods or services to an equivalent
value. That often suits us too.
We
are sure you will agree that it is an ideal opportunity to promote
your business and help a worthwhile cause. We would be delighted
to discuss a package that will suit your needs and help raise your
profile. As you can see from this page, you will be in good company.

| MAGAZINE
ADVERTISING |
Back

|
One
of the ways in which we keep the patients up to date, is through
our station magazine "Wavelength". The magazine is financed
entirely by the adverts within and contains a variety of features
and articles on our service and
our full programme schedule. The
magazine is distributed free in the wards - and we find that each
magazine is read by over half a dozen different patients. It's a
great way for us to publicise our service and a good way for your
firm to advertise to a captive, local audience.
"Wavelength"
has a little brother too - called "Between The Sheets".
This is a flyer which we distribute each night with all the very
latest programme changes and upcoming events.
You
can advertise in "Wavelength" for a whole year from under
£40 for a quarter page, or sponsor a month's issue of "Between
the Sheets" for £25. Either way, it brings your business
to the attention of hundreds of our listeners.

| QUIZ
NIGHTS |

Quiz
nights are a fun way to bring your group together in an informal
and entertaining environment. We have been presenting quizzes for
well over 10 years and they are always great fun. An
ever expanding number of companies see it as a good way to have
a few drinks with their employees while their families can come
along too.
Hospital
Radio Perth will draft a quiz especially for your event; it can
be as easy or as hard as you want; we'll even draw up special rounds
to suit those attending. So whether it is a music quiz, a sports
quiz or a plain old general knowledge quiz, you can be sure that
everyone will enjoy themselves at very little cost.
Hospital
Radio Perth even have agreements with several pubs, clubs and hotels
which will provide a venue free of charge. You have fun, we raise
funds - it couldn't be simpler!

| TREASURE
HUNTS |
Back
To Top |
|
Hospital
Radio Perth have organised well over a dozen treasure hunts. Whether
by car around Perth and Kinross or on foot - or sometimes a mixture
of both - they are always a huge success. Like our quiz nights we
arrange the hunt, and after consultation with you, organise the
starting venue and the finishing post. Most conclude at a local
hostelry where everyone can scoff at those who got lost!
It's
a great way for clubs, organisations and local firms to get everyone
together informally. Again, we do the work and take the entry fees
- you turn up and have a great time. We've done treasure hunts for
thirty cars and for half a dozen, we've even done hunts which involve
visiting over a dozen pubs! I should add that that one was done
on foot - and eventually hands and knees!

| MOBILE
DISCO |

Hospital
Radio Perth don't pretend to be able to supply the type of disco
that club goers might fancy, but we are very good indeed at providing
the ideal disco for family events, works nights out, retirals,
anniversaries, birthdays or any event where there is a mixed crowd
who want music they will know and love. We
provide the sort of music that you might expect at a Christmas
Party night - without the Christmas songs! In
fact each and every disco is tailored to suit the audience on
the night - they might want S Club, Elvis, Village People, Sinatra,
a Gay Gordons or a foxtrot - they might even like a bit of everything.
We'll
offer help and advice on running your event - and guarantee to
be there in plenty of time, with lots of flashy lights and projectors!
And we're not so loud that it's distorted and you can't hear yourself
talking to Auntie Jessie. Isn't that a refreshing change?
We're
a healthy mix of youth and experience, teaming new young DJs with
several who have been at it for well over 30 years. Our rates
are very competitive indeed. So why not give us a go; you'll get
a good night out and the chance to boost the finances of Hospital
Radio Perth.

| PUBLIC
ADDRESS |
Back
To Top |
|
Hospital
Radio Perth can provide a public address system for small to medium
sized events, whether they be indoor our outdoor. We've
done many gala days, village fetes and conferences; perhaps you
have seen us entertaining the huge crowds that attend the fireworks
display on Perth's South Inch each year.
Our
charges are very competitive and we'll even supply a presenter or
MC if required.
Perhaps
our most important public address task came in 1996, when we provided
sound facilities at Rachael House in Kinross for the official opening
of Scotland's first children's hospice by the Princess Royal. We
were honoured to be asked, and of course on that occasion there
was no charge.

If
you are holding a fun day at your work, in your shop or with your
organisation, why not invite Hospital Radio Perth along. If we can,
we'll bring our full roadshow and help out with the fun. It gives
your event music, public address and an added sense of excitement.
We may even broadcast the event back to the hospitals.
In
recent years some of our most successful fun days have been in association
with the St John's Centre, Perth Leisure Pool, What Everyone Wants
and McDonald's.
Our
members are guaranteed to keep the fun going with games and competitions
and help to ensure that your event is a success.
The
photo is about 15 years old and features people who now have less
hair and more everything else!

SHEETS |

Quiz
sheets which sell in various outlets for 50 pence each, have proved
to be a great fund-raiser. We have produced our own, but thanks
also to Ian Steven and Fiona Watson who have both produced quiz
sheets for us. You have probably seen our sheets for sale in a variety
of outlets around Perth and Kinross and we must thank everyone who
sells them on our behalf.
Our
latest sheet is based on the 50 year anniversary of record charts.
Twenty five number one hits - all you have to do is solve the clues
and send in your answer. All the proceeds go to Hospital Radio Perth.
If
you would like a sheet or if you run an outlet which might be prepared
to sell them on our behalf, please get in touch.

| TALKS
TO GROUPS |
|
|
Is
your club looking for a speaker? As part of a programme of publicising
our service, Hospital Radio Perth is offering local clubs, societies
and groups the opportunity to have a speaker visit them to do a
presentation on hospital broadcasting and Hospital Radio Perth.
Any club or organisation wanting to know more about Scotland's top
hospital radio station, can arrange to have a speaker from HRP.
John Watson, Hospital Radio Perth's chairman who has given over
100 talks on the subject reports, "Initially people think that hospital
radio involves a guy in an anorak with a record player and a few
of his favourite discs. Our speakers soon put them right on that!"
We have found that a wide range of groups want to find out more
about HRP; we've spoken to WRIs, Guilds, Probus, Rotary, Round Table
and Inner Wheel clubs, plus we regularly visit retirement groups,
women's clubs and all manner of organisations. Anyone wishing to
find out more about our work should get in touch and we will arrange
for a speaker to visit. And for those who have already had one of
our talks, feel free to contact us again. We're always happy to
tell a group about our latest news and developments.
Anyone
wishing to arrange a speaker should contact Hospital Radio Perth
well in advance as we are in great demand - particularly during
the winter months.

| CD
AND RECORD DONATIONS |
Back
To Top |
|
One
of the questions that we are often asked is "Would you like
my old record collection?" The answer is YES - and NO! Our
library has over 120,000 individual songs filed - so we have most
things. However there are always pieces we are interested in getting.
Anything by Adam Rennie of Coupar Angus and Jimmy Shand playing
"Caddam Woods" are just two of the items we'd love to
trace. If you have old records we'd love to hear from you - but
it is likely that we already have much of your collection.
While
we have the facility to record 78s their quality must be good and
it has to be a track we are really looking for. While some 78s may
be quite rare, it's a mistake to think that they are all valuable
- most are of little or no value. Unfortunately, cassette tapes
are of little use to us. You can imagine how long it takes to find
a particular track to play - especially if you don't know how it
goes!
If
you have CDs you no longer listen to, or if you are a singer or
musician or are part of a band, we'd be interested in hearing from
you. We are particularly interested in the work of local musicians.
Why not send us your latest recordings.

| CHARITABLE
TRUSTS AND DONATIONS |
Back
To Top |
|
We
must take this opportunity to thank a wide variety of charitable
trusts and organisations who have helped us financially over the
years. Without their assistance it would be impossible for us to
run the type of operation or have the facilities that we now have.

| STREET
COLLECTIONS, RAFFLES AND SPONSORED EVENTS |
Back
To Top |
|
From
time to time we run specific fund-raising events. We may be rattling
collection cans in the High Street, outside McDiarmid Park or in
the City Hall or we may be selling raffle tickets, 200 club tickets
or taking part in sponsored events. We may be holding a silent auction,
a coffee morning or even a gardeners' question time.
Whatever
we are doing it will be to raise money to keep our service operating.
As you might imagine, running a radio station can be an expensive
business - we need to raise funds constantly. If
you see us, please dig into your pocket for your loose change. We
really do appreciate your support.
