THE
HOSPITALS WHICH WE SERVE
 Hospital
Radio Perth broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to Perth Royal Infirmary
and Murray Royal Hospital from modern studios at P.R.I. Our signal is
carried by wire to the wards at Perth Royal Infirmary where it reaches
the patient's bedside control panel. The patients tune in on plastic bedside
headsets. We
can be heard on Channel One or Two - depending on the ward.
Over
the years there has been a great deal of debate regarding which stations
should feature on the two remaining channels. Our numerous patient surveys
have always revealed a preference for Radio Two and Radio Scotland. For
this reason, these are the channels which we transmit on Channels Three
and Four.
 For
the past few years, we have also broadcast to Ericht, Isla, Almond, Braan,
Tummel and Garry Wards at Murray Royal Hospital. Our signal is relayed
the mile and a half across town to Murray Royal on the FM waveband. Thereafter
the patients can tune in to speakers situated in the dayrooms, sitting
rooms and bedrooms within the wards.
Each
night, our members visit dozens of patients in the wards and on a number
of occasions we have actually transmitted whole programmes live from within
particular wards or other locations around the hospitals. Our philosophy
is to remain as "patient focussed" as possible.
 We
are lucky to have a strong relationship with our NHS trusts and hospital
management teams who are always supportive of our work. Over the years
they have assisted us in a number of practical ways and have helped our
service grow to what it is today.
In
addition we are particularly grateful to the staff of both hospitals who
are always keen to help and support our projects and assist our members
on a day to day basis.
And
lastly, and even more importantly we are grateful to the thousands of
patients who tune in each year, and who tell us how much they enjoy Hospital
Radio Perth.
